stephengatelyfans.co.uk // keeping Stephen's memory and spirit alive

Welcome...

...to Stephen Gately Fans, my website dedicated to the late singer and actor Stephen Gately, whose short but brilliant life suddenly ended on 10th October 2009 when he passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition.
He was the most kind, gentle, talented and beautiful person, and the world is now a much darker place without him in it. But his memory and spirit will live on in everyone whose lives he ever touched. By keeping this website open as a long lasting tribute to him, I hope to ensure that his legacy lives on and that we never ever forget him.
R.I.P Stephen, 17/3/76 ~ 10/10/09

STEPHEN MENTION IN THE MEATH CHRONICLE
Posted on 28 Apr 2010 by Laura
There was a Stephen mention in the Meath Chronicle today.

Apparently, when Stephen was performing as Joseph in Liverpool, he was given a football shirt signed by Wayne Rooney, but he left the shirt behind and now it's being auctioned off for charity.

You can read the full article here.

(I'm not surprised he left the shirt behind although I bet he wouldn't have done if it had been signed by Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!!!!!!!! laughing )

FRED & MEL'S DANCING ON ICE TRIBUTE
Posted on 18 Apr 2010 by Laura
Fred Palascak and Melanie Lambert performed a beautiful and touching tribute to Stephen during yesterday's Dancing On Ice live shows at the O2 Arena.

They skated a routine to Gave It All Away, and Melanie later tweeted how very emotional it was for them.

You can see a video of their performance on you tube here.

And, according to a tweet from Fred today, the performance should be on the tour DVD, which was being filmed yesterday.

STEPHEN VOTED AS ONE OF IRELAND'S GREATEST PEOPLE
Posted on 08 Apr 2010 by Laura
Voting for Ireland's Greatest Person has now closed and the top five greatest Irish people have been chosen. RTE Television are keeping us guessing about the top five by so far by just announcing, in no particular order, the name's who have made the top ten. And, the good news is that Stephen has been announced as amongst them! smile

Voters placed Stephen inside a top ten which also features Bono (musician and Human Rights campaigner), Noel Browne (politician and physician), Michael Collins (chairman of the Irish provisional government), James Connolly (socialist and revolutionary), John Hume (former politician), Phil Lynott (singer, bassist and songwriter), Pádraig Pearse (teacher, writer and revolutionary), Mary Robinson (former Irish president) and Adi Roche (humanitarian and campaigner).

The top five will be unveiled on The Late Late Show on 17th September and each finalist will then be the subject of an hour-long documentary. Once these documentaries have aired, the public will be given the chance to vote again, with the final result being announced in October.

    Caudwell Children

Stephen's husband Andrew has requested for any donations in memory of Stephen to be made to the Caudwell Children Charity, which Stephen acted as a Goodwill Ambassador for. To donate, just click on the image below!

To date, friends, fans and well-wishers have raised over £30,000 for the charity. With heartfelt tributes and donations continuing to come into the Charity, Stephen’s memory will now live on in the life changing donations we are able to make to children who desperately need our help."
