stephengatelyfans.co.uk // keeping Stephen's memory and spirit alive

Welcome...

...to Stephen Gately Fans, my website dedicated to the late singer and actor Stephen Gately, whose short but brilliant life suddenly ended on 10th October 2009 when he passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition.
He was the most kind, gentle, talented and beautiful person, and the world is now a much darker place without him in it. But his memory and spirit will live on in everyone whose lives he ever touched. By keeping this website open as a long lasting tribute to him, I hope to ensure that his legacy lives on and that we never ever forget him.
R.I.P Stephen, 17/3/76 ~ 10/10/09

     UPDATE ON STEPHEN STATUE
Posted on 28 Aug 2010 by Laura
According to the Herald, a statue in memory of Stephen could now be erected in the Point Village in Dublin.

It was originally intended to be located at the Spencer Dock train station, but Stephen's family would prefer its location to be in the Poin Village.

Independent councillor Christy Burke, who first proposed the memorial, told the Herald: "His mother doesn't want it there as it's very isolated. I was down there at Spencer Dock and no one was coming in or out," adding that there are lots of people around the Point Village day and night.

He also said that: "The Point Village is the most fitting place for Stephen. He would have played there and it's only a stone's throw from where he lived."

If the new location is accepted then it is likely that the statue will be unveiled on what would have been Stephen's 35th birthday next year.

     TRIBUTE FROM JOHN CAUDWELL
Posted on 30 Jun 2010 by Laura
John Caudwell, founder of the Caudwell Children charity, pays tribute to Stephen in an interview with the new issue of OK magazine.

When asked about celebrity contacts becoming friends, he mentions Elton John, David Furnish, Bruce and Winnie Forsyth, Robbie Williams, and Stephen.

About Stephen, he says: "And Stephen Gately was the greatest friend of all, we had some fantastic times together - it's a huge, huge loss. All these friendships and many more have grown through their involvement and support of the charity."

And, in the same issue of the magazine, there's also a feature on Elton's White Tie and Tiara ball, which took place last week. Click here to see a picture of Andrew and Phil Gould at the ball.

Just click on the image below the 'picture of the moment' heading to open up the full length image, and click on the image below the 'video of the moment' heading to download the video....the video I've just added features a few highlights from the Sunday Night Project, including an outtake that's never been seen on TV (Stephen doing some kind of lapdance in his pants....need I say more!!! laughing ).

I'll update this new feature as and when I can, and will also eventually create an archive of all the pictures and videos featured.

If anyone has any favourite pictures/videos they think would be good to put on the front page then please feel free to e-mail me.
